How To Find Amazing Podcasts You Will Instantly Love

Listening to Podcasts is Free and you can do it on any device. You can even listen while driving in your car!

I have been a fan of podcasts for 5 or 6 years now and the growth of this medium has been truly stunning. There are still those out there that seem to struggle to listen to podcasts and I am here to help.

As someone who now produces content for a podcast, I want to make your listening experience as hassle-free as possible. I feel like I owe it to my followers and the broader internet community who wish to engage with audio content but haven’t yet been able to figure it out.

Do you own a Smartphone?

If you do, the most convenient way to listen to podcasts is using an app on your smartphone.

Are you an android or iPhone user?

The great news is that it doesn’t matter if you are on an Android or Apple device. For Android users, I recommend Pocket Casts or Spotify if you already use it for listening to music. Those of you on Apple have Apple Podcasts to listen to a huge variety of shows including my own.

My car can do what?

It’s no surprise that the car is becoming the most popular place to listen to podcasts. Millennials lead the way with this trend and who can blame them? Commuting is a great time to learn something new or listen to a crime story.

Most people are using Bluetooth to connect their phones to their cars but if you don’t have this option, some cars have an “Aux” cable input. You can get a male-to-male 3.5mm jack to connect your car to your phone. A lot of the newer phones don’t have the 3.5mm jacks anymore and sometimes it may just make perfect sense to play your podcast through the phone’s speakers. If you do use this option please do not use your phone while you are driving.

Can I listen to Podcasts on my computer?

Absolutely! Although this isn’t as handy as using your mobile device, your computer is 100% capable of playing podcasts. If you are not on the go, using your PC is a very simple way of listening to your favourite shows. You can either navigate to the Podcast’s site to listen to it, or you can use iTunes on Apple and Spotify on your Android device.

This is personally what I do if I am doing chores around the house. I connect my Bluetooth speaker to my laptop and I listen to one of my favourite creators while I work. This is a great way to make housework less monotonous.

Should I Subscribe to Podcasts?

In my personal opinion, I say yes. I love the fact the podcast comes to me automatically as soon as it is released. All you have to do is jump onto the app you use and the new episode will be there waiting for you. All the apps and websites I recommended for listening to podcasts above will have this functionality.

There are so many Podcasts. How do I find the right one?

These days most apps and online podcast directories have great search capabilities. If you have an idea of what you want to search for you will undoubtedly find something you enjoy.

Don’t forget that you can also use a regular search engine as well. If you use sites like Google or DuckDuckGo this can help you find what you are looking for and also will hand you recommendations based on the advice of other people and algorithms as well.

I also love to ask friends and family if they listen to any interesting shows and I add them to my list. Don’t forget to lean on your network to help find new shows to keep you entertained.

I have recently started a podcast of my own and I would love it if you could give it a listen.

I’m a visual learner so audio isn’t for me.

Not so fast! With platforms like YouTube, Rumble and Twitch; podcasters are creating video versions of their content too. There is really a platform for everyone, no matter what your preferences are.

Final notes, and some extra tools to help you find podcasts that suit you.

I really hope this has assisted you in your podcast journey. I know how daunting it can be to try and navigate the app store and the various apps that are available for listening to podcasts. If you are still scratching your head looking for a good show head over to The Podcast Host’s directory where they have top 10 lists of various categories. Another great site to look at is Rephonic, here you can discover podcasts based on your current listening trends.

If there are still unanswered questions, please do not hesitate to email me and I would be happy to assist you.
